JOB DESCRIPTION

A Hygiene Operative is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards in a variety of settings, such as food production facilities, manufacturing plants, or healthcare institutions. This role involves performing thorough cleaning tasks to ensure a safe and sanitized environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

There are no formal academic entry requirements. Training is typically received on-the-job. Vocational qualifications covering various aspects of industrial cleaning are available at Levels 1 and 2. Qualifications are also offered by the British Institute of Cleaning Science.

TASKS

  • Perform deep cleaning and sanitization of production equipment, machinery, and work surfaces..
  • Follow established cleaning protocols and use appropriate cleaning agents..
  • Ensure cleanliness and hygiene in production areas, including floors, walls, and ceilings..
  • Clean and sanitize high-touch surfaces to prevent the spread of contaminants..
  • Disassemble and reassemble production equipment for comprehensive cleaning..
  • Clean and sanitize equipment components thoroughly..
  • Collect and dispose of waste and recycling in accordance with company policies..
  • Segregate waste materials appropriately for recycling or disposal..
  • Clean and disinfect restroom facilities, including toilets, sinks, and surfaces..
